Cincinnati is a city in the United States of America located in the state of Ohio, within the county of Hamilton where it began as a village in the year 1788. It became a city in the year 1819. Its government is one under the leadership of a mayor. Cincinnati extends over an area of approximately 206 square kilometers whereby about 201 square kilometers is covered by land with the remaining about 2% covered by water. The city sits at an altitude of about 147 meters above sea level (Asl). Cincinnati is populous with an estimated 300,000 people within the area under the city. Population density of the Cincinnati is about 3,810 persons per square kilometer.

Geographically, the city of Cincinnati is mapped on the north side of the Ohio River where there is the confluence of the river, which is in fact the border between the states of Ohio and the state of Kentucky. It lies opposite to the mouth of the Licking River. In Ohio, it is the 3rd largest while in the United States of America, it is the 65th largest city. Cincinnati is a coastal city in the United States and it was considered a boom town. It saw a period of prosperity especially in the 19th century where it was ranked among the top 10 cities among the cities present at that time. Cincinnati was the first major city, American city for that matter, to be founded once the American Revolution was over.

Climate of the Cincinnati city is humid subtropical climate further north of the city while further south of the city is humid continental climate. This in fact leaves Cincinnati between two different climatic zones hence it is located in the transition zone between these two climatic zones. Cincinnati has warm summers, accompanied by rainfall of significant amount every month. Temperatures are high of about 32o Celsius for about 20 days in the year usually with high humidity and high due points. July is by far the warmest of all months in the year in this region. Winters are snowy and cold, with lowest temperature of about -18oCelsius. Annually, the area receives precipitation of about 1100 mm, 560 mm of it contributed to by snowfall. Severe thunderstorms are an occurrence more common in warmer months.

Cincinnati’s culture has a great sway from German and Irish immigrants all together with its physical location to the south of Midwestern United States. As part of the culture of the Cincinnati’s Jewish community, there is the Isaac temple which was built as a Reform Judaism temple after breaking from the Conservative and Orthodox. Fountain square sits as a cornerstone for culture in the region. The heritage of Cincinnati is from the cooking as well, Bavarian cooking, owing to the reason that the origin of most of the settlers was southern Germany. The gourmet restaurants in the city also are part of the city’s culture with five star restaurants such as The Maisonette. Cincinnati celebrates festivals such as Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, Taste of Cincinnati and Bockfest whereby local restaurateurs are featured.
